چکیده

Background Previous studies have demonstrated that an increase in extracellular volume measured on MRI is directly proportionate to myocardial fibrosis. Myocardial extracellular volume is proportionate to partition coefficient (l) and extracellular volume = l × (1-hematocrit). l can be measured by assessing the T1 relaxation time before and after injection of contrast medium. The goal of this study is to assess the accuracy and precision of several T1 mapping sequences using a phantom at 1.5 and 3.0T.

Shortened Modified Look-Locker Inversion recovery (ShMOLLI) for clinical myocardial T1-mapping at 1.5 and 3 T within a 9 heartbeat breathhold

BACKGROUND T1 mapping allows direct in-vivo quantitation of microscopic changes in the myocardium, providing new diagnostic insights into cardiac disease. Existing methods require long breath holds that are demanding for many cardiac patients. In this work we propose and validate a novel, clinically applicable, pulse sequence for myocardial T1-mapping that is compatible with typical limits for ...

Intersite reproducibility of myocardial assessment of T1 and partition coefficient on phantom and one volunteer at 1.5T and 3.0T

Background Myocardial extracellular volume is proportionate to partition coefficient (l). l can be measured by assessing the T1 relaxation time before and after injection of gadolinium. T1 and l might become clinically relevant parameters for prognostic assessment. The goal of that study is to assess the intersite reproducibility of T1 assessment and partition coefficient on phantom and on one ...

Modified look-locker inversion recovery T1 mapping indices: assessment of accuracy and reproducibility between magnetic resonance scanners

BACKGROUND Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) T1 mapping indices, such as T1 time and partition coefficient (λ), have shown potential to assess diffuse myocardial fibrosis. The purpose of this study was to investigate how scanner and field strength variation affect the accuracy and precision/reproducibility of T1 mapping indices. METHODS CMR studies were performed on two 1.5T and three 3...

Myocardial T1-mapping at 3T using saturation-recovery: reference values, precision and comparison with MOLLI

BACKGROUND Myocardial T1-mapping recently emerged as a promising quantitative method for non-invasive tissue characterization in numerous cardiomyopathies. Commonly performed with an inversion-recovery (IR) magnetization preparation at 1.5T, the application at 3T has gained due to increased quantification precision. Alternatively, saturation-recovery (SR) T1-mapping has recently been introduced...

Age-gender reference values of native myocardial T1 at 1.5T and 3T: comparison of MOLLI and shMOLLI

Methods Ninety-nine subjects with no history of cardiovascular or systemic disease or regular medication underwent native T1 imaging with modified (MOLLI; 3,3,5) and shortened modified look-locker inversion recovery sequence (shMOLLI; 1,1,5) at either 1.5T or 3T. The images were analyzed using an Osirix plug-in with manual motion correction of the ROI placed conservatively within the septal myo...
